INVITING MILITARY FAMILIES FROM FORT RILEY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT
K-STATE AT THE ALL-UNIVERSITY OPEN HOUSE APRIL 14
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University is saving a special spot for soldiers
and their families at K-State's All-University Open House, 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14.
Open
house is an opportunity to learn more about the university's academics
and campus life through tours, interactive exhibits and games. Open
house also includes children's activities, food and entertainment.
This
year's open house will have a hospitality tent for members of the
military and their families. The tent will be west of Bosco Plaza,
which is outside the K-State Student Union. At the tent, visitors
can enter a prize drawing, meet K-State students and talk with campus
representatives from admissions, student financial assistance, housing
and academic departments. Representatives will be able to answer
questions about K-State programs that serve soldiers and their families,
including information on a special tuition adjustment that gives
military personnel stationed on active duty in Kansas and their
dependents the in-state tuition rate.
Open
house activities include entertainment, like an Air Force ROTC parade
at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Stadium, a performance by the Kansas City
Marching Cobras drill team at noon on the Bosco Plaza and much more.
Walking tours of campus will be available every half hour, starting
from the admissions booth at the Union. Shuttles will leave from
the south side of the Union every 15 minutes to take visitors all
over campus, including the Jardine Apartments, currently undergoing
a $104 million redevelopment project. The complex offers housing
and community amenities to K-State students who are married, have
children or who are single non-traditional students.
