WONDERING
WHAT LIFE AT COLLEGE IS LIKE? FIND OUT APRIL 14 AT K-STATE'S ALL-UNIVERSITY
OPEN HOUSE, FEATURING ENTERTAINMENT, GAMES AND FOOD
MANHATTAN
-- Whether you can't wait to start college life or you're not
sure what to expect, Kansas State University has an event that will
get your questions answered while getting you jazzed about life
as a Wildcat.
The
All-University Open House will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April
14, at K-State's campuses in Manhattan and Salina. Open house is
a great time for high school students to see all aspects of campus.
Through tours, exhibits and interactive displays, this year's safari-themed
open house shows what K-State has to offer while keeping the rest
of your family busy with games, food and shows like a performance
by the Kansas City Marching Cobras.
Here's
how K-State's All-University Open House can help answer your questions
about college:
*
Confused about how to get into college or how to pay for it? Talk
with admissions and student financial assistance representatives
at the K-State Student Union.
*
Wondering what it's like to live on campus? Tour a residence hall,
scholarship hall or cooperative house. See a sample residence hall
room on the second floor of the K-State Student Union.
*
Thinking of going Greek? Talk to fraternity and sorority members
at sessions offered every half hour from 10 a.m. to noon at the
director's conference room in the Union, then take a tour of a fraternity
or sorority house.
*
Trying to pick a major? Check out the displays at buildings across
campus and talk to faculty and students from some of K-State's more
than 250 undergraduate majors. See hotel and restaurant management
students carve sculptures from blocks of ice. Watch veterinary medicine
students examine a pony. Compete against some of the most dedicated
gamers in the technology and aviation department at K-State at Salina.
*
Still not sure? Take a free assessment to see which careers --
and K-State majors -- might be just your thing. Assessments
are offered every hour beginning at 10 a.m. at 14 Holton Hall.
*
Wondering what there is to do on campus? Stop by the Union to learn
about K-States nearly 400 student organizations. Take a tour of
Hale Library, the centerpiece of K-State's campus. Tour the Peters
Recreation Complex, where K-State students can enjoy a variety of
intramural sports and fitness activities in spacious surroundings.
Want
to be entertained? Check out a couple of performances that exemplify
what types of shows you can expect to see on campus as a K-State
student. The Kansas City Marching Cobras drill team performs at
noon on the Bosco Student Plaza outside the Union. Come out a day
early, and Friday night you can see two of the stars from the Discovery
Channel's "MythBusters" show in a presentation at 7 p.m.
at McCain Auditorium. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased by calling
785-532-6428.
Open
House is free, and you don't have to register to attend. For more
