LECTURE BY GERMAN ARCHITECT, JOURNALIST TO EXPLORE HOW ARCHITECTURE
OF REUNIFIED BERLIN EXPRESSES GERMAN NATIONAL IDENTITY
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University's College of Architecture, Planning
and Design is bringing German architect and journalist Ulf Meyer
to campus for a lecture.
Meyer
will present "Architecture and Urban Design in Berlin Since
the Fall of the Wall" at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the
Little Theatre at the K-State Student Union. The free lecture, which
is open to the public, will explore how the architecture of the
reunified Berlin expresses German national identity.
Meyer
has given similar talks at German cultural centers in Toronto; Oslo,
Norway; Brussels, Belgium; Shanghai, China; and at the Boston Architectural
Society. His visit is sponsored by the Kansas City Design Center.
An
architectural critic and author, Meyer has been published in major
newspapers and architectural magazines both in Germany and abroad.
He is the editor of the journal ARCH+ and serves as the German correspondent
for World Architecture magazine. Meyer's most recent books include
"Bauhaus: 1919-1933" with photographer Hans Engles, and
"Berlin: Capital City."
Design
professionals can submit attendance to the lecture for continuing
education credit by contacting Diane Potts by phone at 785-532-1090
or potts@k-state.edu.
