JAMES
LYALL JOINING K-STATE AS ASSOCIATE VICE PROVOST FOR ACADEMIC SERVICES
AND TECHNOLOGY
MANHATTAN
-- James Lyall is joining Kansas State University in its nationally
recognized efforts to support and promote technology on campus.
Beginning
May 1, Lyall will serve as K-State's associate vice provost for
academic services and technology. He will oversee K-State's campus
network and computing infrastructure, develop academic applications,
and manage information and computer security, among other responsibilities.
He will support Elizabeth Unger, vice provost of academic services
and technology and dean of continuing education, in advising university
leaders on information technology strategic planning, policies and
technology investments.
Lyall
comes to K-State from Colorado State University, where he is director
of information and instructional technology for the College of Applied
Human Sciences. Previously at Colorado State, Lyall served as the
network administrator and help desk manager for the College of Applied
Human Sciences' academic computing and networking services. He also
was information technology coordinator for the university's department
of occupational therapy. While at Colorado State, Lyall received
several awards, including University Distinguished Administrative
Professional in 2005. He will receive a doctorate in information
systems/business administration from Colorado State in May.
The
mission of the office of vice provost of academic services and technology
is to give K-State recognition and a global presence as a digital
entity by connecting the university's intellectual resources to
people and institutions beyond the campus. K-State's commitment
to technology has been recognized nationally by Intel, which ranked
the university as one of the best college campuses in the country
for wireless Internet access.
