K-STATE
GROUP TO SPONSOR SEVENTH ANNUAL INTEGRITY WEEK
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University's Honor and Integrity System's educational
component, Honor and Integrity Peer Educators, will sponsor the
seventh annual K-State Integrity Week, March 4-9.
Integrity
Week will feature several activities on campus to promote honor
and integrity both in a student's academic endeavors and in one's
future profession, said Helene Marcoux, associate director of K-State's
Honor Council.
"The
purpose of Integrity Week at K-State is to remind everyone that
integrity in academic work may also reinforce the need for integrity
in personal and professional lives," Marcoux said. "Preparing
oneself in one's discipline or major will earn a degree, but more
important is preparing oneself to leave K-State as a person of integrity,
no matter the future profession or career."
The
week will begin with the keynote address, "Honor and Integrity,"
by K-State's head football coach Ron Prince at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March
6, in the K-State Student Union Little Theater. The address is open
to the public.
Honor
and Integrity Peer Educators will have an information table from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the K-State Student Union
food court.
Integrity
Week will conclude with a Mock Honor Panel Hearing from 11:30 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in Room 213 of the K-State Student
Union. This event is open to all faculty and students.
"Due
to recent media coverage of unethical conduct in the business and
professional world, this generation of college students will be
under the microscope for their ethical conduct in their future professions.
Honor and Integrity Peer Educators hopes to promote awareness of
the importance of integrity on campus now in academic work and soon
in future endeavors," Marcoux said.
