K-STATE'S
BEACH MUSEUM OF ART OFFERING ART WORKSHOP IN CONJUNCTION WITH ALL-UNIVERSITY
OPEN HOUSE EVENTS APRIL 14
MANHATTAN
-- The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State
University is taking part in K-State's All-University Open House
activities Saturday, April 14.
From
1:30-3:30 p.m., open house visitors will be treated to a free art
workshop sponsored by the Student Friends of the Beach Museum of
Art. Participants can choose from an array of art supplies to craft
their own artistic landscapes. Their work will be displayed on a
wall set aside especially for their art.
"This
is a wonderful opportunity for us to show students and families
what the museum has to offer," said Jake Perkinson, sophomore
in fine art, Salina, and president of Student Friends of the Beach
Museum of Art. "We feel that we are part of what makes K-State
wonderful and unique."
The
Beach Museum of Art participated in K-State's Family Day in the
fall with a workshop where participants decorated plastic hard hats
as a way to mark the new museum addition currently under construction.
For
more information, call the Beach Museum at 785-532-7718. The museum
is on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street
and Anderson Avenue. Admission is free, and complimentary visitor
parking is available adjacent to the facility.
The
museum will re-open Tuesday, April 3, after having closed briefly
for renovations to its entryway. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesdays through Fridays, and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The
museum is closed Mondays.
