K-STATE'S
BEACH MUSEUM OF ART CLOSING TEMPORARILY WHILE IMPROVEMENTS MADE
TO ENTRYWAY; CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS CONTINUING AS SCHEDULED
MANHATTAN
-- The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State
University will be closed March 12 to April 3 while minor changes
are made to the museum's entryway. During that time, early childhood
workshops will continue as scheduled.
The
museum will resume its regular hours Wednesday, April 4, with a
brighter, fresher look to the lower level entrance. New carpeting
is being installed to match that of the recently renovated office
space.
"There
are so many wonderful changes taking place in the museum right now,"
said Lorne Render, director of the Beach Museum of Art. "Even
minor changes like these add to the excitement we feel about the
new wing that is currently under construction."
The
Beach Museum expansion has been under construction since November
2005 and is scheduled to be complete by May. The new addition, which
includes two new interior galleries, an outdoor sculpture garden
and second-floor restrooms, will open to the public in October.
Currently on display is "A Decade and a Year: Annual Major
Acquisitions by the Friends of the Beach Museum of Art." The
exhibition will be on display through May 21.
For
more information, call the museum at 785-532-7718 or drop by the
museum on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street
and Anderson Avenue. Admission is free, and complimentary visitor
parking is available adjacent to the facility. Regular museum hours
are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 1 to 5 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays.
