K-STATE
FOOTBALL TICKETS, GOLF EXCURSIONS, $1,500 VACATION PACKAGE TO MEXICO
ON THE AUCTION BLOCK APRIL 13 AT K-STATE TRAVEL AND DINING AUCTION
MANHATTAN
-- Gourmet cheesecake, vintage wine, golf excursions and a vacation
package to Mexico will be among items up for bid at the Kansas State
University Travel and Dining Auction.
The
auction will be 7-10 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the K-State Alumni
Center, and will include a live jazz band, a wine sampling, coffee,
appetizers and desserts.
The
auction is presented by K-State students in the College of Human
Ecology's hotel and restaurant management program. The goal is to
raise $20,000 to support scholarships and professional development
for students in the hotel and restaurant management program.
Through
live and silent auctions, guests can bid on items like club-level
tickets to a K-State football game, hotel packages in Chicago and
Kansas City, golf excursions in Chicago and at the Flint Hills National
Golf Club in Andover, car rental packages from Enterprise, vintage
wine, as well as a travel package to Mexico valued at $1,500. Also
on the auction block will be gift certificates for local restaurants
like Harry's Uptown, a wine-tasting at Four Olives or beer-tasting
for 40 at the Little Apple Brewery. The auction will include smaller
items like products from Starbucks, Pizza Hut and other local businesses.
"Since
January, we have been working really hard to plan every aspect of
the auction," said Tarah Ferren, senior in hotel and restaurant
management, Olathe. "When we started, the only thing
that was given to us was the location, and the rest was left up
to us to plan."
Tickets
are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information, send
e-mail to auction@humec.k-state.edu.
