K-STATE AWARDS DEGREES, GRADUATION HONORS TO SUMMER STUDENTS

MANHATTAN -- More than 490 students received degrees from Kansas State University this summer, with 17 students receiving graduation honors for outstanding academic achievement as undergraduates.

Degrees earned include more than 295 bachelor's degrees, nearly 190 master's degrees, 30 doctoral degrees, and several associate degrees. Some students earned multiple degrees.

Eight students are graduating summa cum laude, K-State's top graduation honor. Three students are graduating magna cum laude and six are graduating cum laude.

Summa cum laude graduates earned a 3.95 or higher cumulative academic average at K-State. Students qualify for magna cum laude with an average of 3.85 to 3.949, and students with averages of 3.75 to 3.849 graduate cum laude.

Summer 2007 graduates had the option to participate in K-State's May 2007 commencement ceremony, or they can participate in the December 2007 commencement ceremonies, which will be Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8.
