K-STATE'S BEACH MUSEUM OF ART RESCHEDULES LADIES NIGHT FOR JUNE 26

MANHATTAN -- Ladies Night at Kansas State University's Marianna Kistler Beach Museum has been rescheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26. The event had been postponed because of the June 11 tornado.

Katherine Schlageck, senior educator at the Beach Museum, will lead participants through the "More Than Words: Illustrated Letters from the Smithsonian Archives of American Art" exhibition. The exhibition features 58 hand-illustrated letters or personal notes by noted artists. Most of the writings include drawings, caricatures, watercolors and collages that shed light on each artist.

After the tour, participants will receive journals to embellish as they wish.

"Marsha Jensen will supply high-quality scrapbooking materials, and participants will put pages in the scrapbooks and personalize them," Schlageck said. Jensen is a freelance graphic artist who also is skilled at basket-weaving and scrapbooking.

Refreshments will be served. The workshop fee of $10 per person includes all supplies. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 785-532-7718.

For more information, contact Schlageck at 785-532-7718, or drop by the museum on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street and Anderson Avenue. Free visitor parking is available next to the building. Normal museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays.
