K-STATE FACILITATES ANNUAL JUVENILE JUSTICE CONFERENCE IN TOPEKA

MANHATTAN -- The ninth annual Governor's Conference on Juvenile Justice: Partners in Progress will be July 20-22 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka.

The conference, facilitated by Kansas State University, is ideal for any attorneys, case workers, parents, counselors, social workers or anyone interested in juvenile justice, crime reduction and crime prevention. It focuses on legal issues, facilities issues, prevention, mental health issues, community programs and services.

Featured speakers include Gordon Basemore, a professor in the department of criminology and chair of the Criminal Justice Institute at Florida Atlantic University; Stanton E. Samenow, a clinical psychologist on adolescent inpatient psychiatric services in Michigan; and Bill Cordes, a consultant and author from Lawrence, Kan.

Continuing education units, continuing legal education, training, and general information for professionals working with at-risk youth and juvenile offenders are available.

The early registration deadline for the conference has been extended to July 3.
