JAN ELSASSER NEW DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT FOR K-STATE STUDENT LIFE
MANHATTAN -- Jan Elsasser has been named director of information management for student life at Kansas State University.
Elsasser, who also serves as associate director of technology for the K-State office of admissions, will be responsible for information technology needs related to K-State student life. With her new duties, Elsasser will work with such key online student services as enrollment, admissions, applications for student financial assistance and the posting and access to grades.
"The director of information management position offers the university a great opportunity to combine resources and provide our students with tremendous online service opportunities," said Pat Bosco, associate vice president for institutional advancement and dean of student life at K-State. "Our goal, through this position, is to provide K-State students and families with the latest in advanced technology to serve their university information needs."
Bosco said Elsasser, a K-State alum who has worked for the university for more than 13 years, is well qualified for the post.
"Because of Jan's commitment to providing the very best service to both prospective and continuing students, she is the perfect person to bring together many of our efforts and move us to the next level in serving students," he said.
Elsasser said one of her main goals will be to make student information technology management at K-State seamless to better serve current students and prospective students, as well as the different entities on campus that serve students.
"One of my main challenges is to find out how each group is utilizing information and the extent of their systems, and then bring these information needs together to make our student information management system more efficient for all who use it," Elsasser said.
One way Elsasser is working to achieve this goal is as a member of K-State's LASER -- Legacy Application Systems Empower Replacement -- Project, which is replacing all current student administration and financial management systems to increase the information accessibility and technical capabilities for faculty, staff and students. She serves as the team leader for the project's Talisma software system implementation and as team leader for the office of admissions' new student information system, iSIS.
"Jan's expertise in student information management will help K-State ensure the quality and continued growth of our online student information services, which is vital in providing students with the services they need to succeed," Bosco said.
