CARLIN APPOINTED K-STATE INTERIM VICE PROVOST FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

MANHATTAN -- Lynn Carlin has been named interim vice provost for information technology at Kansas State University. She will start her new job July 1.

"I believe Lynn will do an excellent job in this interim role," said Duane Nellis, university provost. "I look forward to working with her, the information technology staff and the campus community as we strengthen information technology and its central role in our effort to be a premier land-grant university."

Carlin comes to the job from Hale Library, where as special project assistant to the provost and the dean of libraries she has been involved in planning for the management of the university's digital resources and in her role as special assistant to the provost where she advises the provost on information technology related initiatives.

She joined K-State in 2005 as the director of the department of data and information administration. Carlin spent most of her career working in various leadership positions at the Library of Congress and the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

"Under Beth Unger, Kansas State University has made great progress integrating technology into its work," Carlin said. "It is important to the future of the university that we continue to build a sound information and technology infrastructure and services to support the university's missions of teaching, learning, research and engagement."

Nearly all of Carlin's previous positions have involved directing, coordinating or participating in projects related to adapting to the digital information environment and finding new ways to use technology.

She has a master's degree from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., and a bachelor's from Ohio State University in Columbus.
