STUDENTS AT K-STATE AT SALINA RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING WORK IN 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR

SALINA -- Kansas State University at Salina has recognized several students with awards for outstanding academic achievements, writing skills, dedication, leadership or community service in the 2008-2009 school year.

Students earning recognition include:

Daniel Beck, May 2009 bachelor's graduate in engineering technology, Claflin, Outstanding Student Award in computer systems technology; Skyler Heinz, senior in aviation maintenance, Garden City, Outstanding Student Award in aviation maintenance; Shae Blackwell, senior in professional pilot, Hanston, Wildcat Pride Award for determination; Steve Goodman, May 2009 bachelor's graduate in engineering technology, Meriden, Outstanding Student Award in mechanical engineering technology; Kelley Coons, senior in professional pilot, Olathe, Wildcat Pride Award for community service; Blake Stoppel, senior in engineering technology, Russell, Outstanding Student Award in construction engineering.

From Salina: Roger Holter, senior in engineering technology, Expository Writing Award honorable mention; Brooke Klaus, sophomore in animal sciences and industry, Outstanding Student Award in chemistry; Angela Larson, freshman in applied business, Expository Writing Award honorable mention; John C. Petterson, freshman in English, first place, Expository Writing Award; and William Stewart, May 2009 bachelor's graduate in engineering technology, Outstanding Student Award in electronic and computer engineering technology.

Matt Pianalto, senior in professional pilot, Wichita, second place, Expository Writing Award.

From out of state: Hall Lewallen, senior in professional pilot, Gilbert, Ariz., Wildcat Pride Award for dedication; Catherine Swearingen, senior in technology management, Anaheim, Calif., Outstanding Student Award in technology management; and Janelle Baron, May 2009 bachelor's graduate in professional pilot, Monument, Colo., Outstanding Student Award in professional pilot.
