K-STATE AT SALINA STUDENT PLACES AT NATIONAL SKILLSUSA CONFERENCE
SALINA -- A student at Kansas State University at Salina has earned sixth place in the aviation maintenance technology category of the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Championship, June 23-27, at Kansas City, Mo.
Chip Holub, senior in aviation maintenance, Halstead, advanced to the national championship after taking first place in aviation maintenance technology at the state SkillsUSA competition in March.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled work force. With 13,000 school chapters, SkillsUSA serves more than 280,000 students and instructors annually.
"SkillsUSA has competitions in electronics, computers, software design, engineering technology and many other areas that may be expandable into other academic programs across our Salina campus," said Andrew Smith, assistant professor of aviation maintenance at K-State at Salina. "This year we only focused on aviation maintenance."
