K-STATE DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION TO BE PART OF AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH

SALINA -- More than 20 students, faculty and staff from Kansas State University at Salina will represent K-State's department of aviation at the Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture Oshkosh, July 28-Aug. 3.

The annual gathering, in Oshkosh, Wis., attracts more than 500,000 aviation enthusiasts from around the world.

The K-State delegation will be led by Kurt Barnhart, head of the aviation department.

"We are thrilled to be taking a larger contingent this year, our second at the Oshkosh event," said Dennis Kuhlman, dean of K-State at Salina.

In addition to the student, faculty and staff involvement, K-State's Cessna CitationJet will highlight the university's aviation presence. The jet will be on display in the outdoor exhibit in the main aircraft display area. Several other smaller K-State aircraft also will be flown to Oshkosh for the event.

"We are proud to put our elite program on display for the aviation world," Kuhlman said. "Our dedicated students, knowledgeable faculty, quality research initiatives, and well-rounded fleet stand ready to impress the aviators who trek to AirVenture."
