K-STATE OFFERS ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT COURSES TO HIGHER EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University is offering two seminars this fall to help student recruitment professionals invigorate their recruitment and retention efforts.
A two-hour graduate credit course, Seminar in Practical Applications of Enrollment Management, will be taught online this fall beginning Aug. 20 with a virtual chat session. Led by Doris Wright Carroll, K-State associate professor of counseling and educational psychology, the course will discuss topics such as the role and function of enrollment management, diversity in enrollment management and institutional brand. Students will practice designing an enrollment management plan for their office, administrative unit or college.
Pat Bosco, K-State's associate vice president for institutional advancement and dean of student life, will lead the corresponding Seminar in Enrollment Management, Oct. 28-29, on the K-State campus. Participants receive one hour of graduate credit. Students must be enrolled in the online course to participate in the seminar.
Courses are designed for professionals at universities, community colleges, private schools or training institutions. Anyone working with student recruitment -- from admissions representatives to academic deans -- can benefit from the courses.
Networking and the exchange of ideas between participants will be encouraged to give students the opportunity to learn not only from expert faculty, but also from colleagues working for institutions across the nation. As part of their course requirements, students will create an enrollment management plan for their institution and present it to one another, giving participants the opportunity for peer feedback and critique.
