ACCIDENT INJURES WORKER AT JARDINE CONSTRUCTION SITE
MANHATTAN - A worker was injured this morning in an accident at the Jardine Apartment Complex construction site at Kansas State University.
According to Capt. Richard Herrman of the K-State Police Department, Roger Wayne Wyre, 30, Holton, was in a ditch when he was hit by a 2,000-pound bucket that had fallen from a nearby excavator and tumbled into the ditch. The accident happened around 10:20 a.m. one block west of Denison Avenue in the Jardine complex.
Wyre was taken by ambulance to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. While his exact health status is not known, Herrman said Wyre's release from the hospital in a couple of days was being considered.
Wyre works for Carlson Utility, a subcontractor on the Jardine project.
The Jardine complex is undergoing a $104 million redevelopment, a 10-year project which started in summer 2005.
