K-STATE FRESHMAN TO RECEIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
MANHATTAN -- John Grice, Manhattan, an incoming freshman at Kansas State University, has been awarded the John Foster Memorial Scholarship.
The one-time $3,000 dollar award is given annually to a Kansas high school graduate who plans to attend a state college or university. The money comes from the Kansas Peace Officers Association, the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police and the Kansas Sheriffs Association. The recipient must be the child of a member of a state law-enforcement agency.
Grice is the son of Cheryl Grice, manager of employment services in K-State's Division of Human Resources, and Ronnie Grice, assistant vice president for public safety at K-State.
The scholarship honors the late John Foster, a longtime chief of Lenexa's police force and a former sheriff for Johnson County.
John Grice, a 2007 graduate of Manhattan High School, will receive the award at an 11 a.m. ceremony Friday, July 27, in K-State's Edwards Hall.
He was one of five finalists selected from a field of 38 applicants. He has enrolled at K-State as a political science major and is planning to minor in leadership studies and economics.
