FAMILIES CAN CREATE VALENTINES AT K-STATE BEACH MUSEUM WORKSHOP FEB. 3

MANHATTAN -- The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University invites families to its annual Valentine's Art Workshop from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.

Sponsored by the Student Friends of the Beach Museum of Art, the workshop gives parents and children the chance to create unique valentines. Shiny paper, doilies, glue and everything else needed to design cards and gifts will be provided. Participants may bring personal items such as photographs to incorporate into their creations.

"This workshop always reminds me of how much fun it can be to enjoy the company of people you love," said Jake Perkinson, junior in fine arts, Salina, and president of the Student Friends group. "If I could summarize the workshop into one word, it would be 'bewitching.'"

Admission is $5 per person; Beach Buddies get in for half-price. Reservations are not required.

For more information, call the Beach Museum at 785-532-7718 or drop by the museum on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street and Anderson Avenue. Admission is free, and free visitor parking is available next to the building. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed on Mondays.
