K-STATE'S ENGINEERING CAREER FAIR PROVIDES JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS

MANHATTAN -- More than 120 engineering and computer science companies will be attending the annual K-State Engineering Career Fair. The fair will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the Rathbone Hall atrium.

This year's fair will be slightly larger than last year's and will offer all facets of the engineering and computer science professions.

Some of the employers planning on attending the fair include Black and Veatch, Caterpillar, Cerner, ExxonMobil, Ford Motor Company, Garmin, Halliburton, Koch Industries, Phillips Lighting, Sprint Nextel and Westar. Several government agencies will be represented, including the Environmental Protection Agency, Army Corps of Engineers, National Security Agency, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and the Kansas Department of Transportation.

"We're very pleased with the industry turnout for the Engineering Career Fair," said John English, dean of K-State's College of Engineering. "The fair is an extremely effective way for companies to recruit top talent and a great way for our students to see the broad range of opportunities in engineering, computer and construction science. It also affirms the stature of the K-State College of Engineering's reputation in the world of business and industry."

Besides looking for upcoming graduates to fill entry-level, full-time positions, most of the companies are also looking to fill summer internships and co-op positions, which can be important stepping-stones toward a professional career.

Students attending the fair should dress professionally and bring their student ID and multiple copies of their resume. Tips on how to dress and how to network at a career fair, as well as information on the companies attending, is available at http://www.k-state.edu/ces and then clicking on the Engineering Career Fair icon at the top of the page.
