K-STATE'S McCAIN AUDITORIUM FEATURES EXHIBIT ON LANDON LECTURE SERIES

MANHATTAN -- Posters and photographs from past Landon Lecturers are being displayed in McCain Auditorium in honor of the 40th anniversary of the lecture series at Kansas State University.

Charles Reagan, chair of the Landon Lecture Series, said the exhibit highlights the list of prominent individuals who have given lectures as part of the series. The lecture today by Prince Turki Al-Faisal is the 147th in the series.

The exhibit also includes information about the history of the lecture series and list the chairs of the lecture series since its inception.

The Landon Lectures were inaugurated in 1966 by Kansas Gov. Alf Landon himself. Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and both Presidents Bush have given Landon Lectures. Three foreign heads of state have appeared as Landon speakers. The entire list of speakers, the dates of their speeches and the topics on which they spoke are listed at http://www.k-state.edu/landon

President George W. Bush spoke on Jan. 23, 2006. Former President of Poland Lech Walesa, Shell Oil President John Hofmeister and U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld also have recently spoken in the series.

Reagan said the exhibit will be available for much of the spring semester. The exhibit is in the north corridor of McCain Auditorium.
