K-STATE PRESIDENT JON WEFALD COMMENTS ON GOVERNOR'S DEFERRED MAINTENANCE FUNDING PLAN

MANHATTAN -- In a statement released this morning, Kansas State University President Jon Wefald said:

"We are pleased Governor Sebelius has announced an aggressive plan to address deferred maintenance needs at K-State and all the state universities.

"The Governor has taken the first step to address both the $663 million backlog as well as the annual maintenance issues on the campuses. The Governor has responded to the students, faculty and alumni who have asked her to maintain the quality and facilities of the state universities. We pledge to work with the Governor and the Kansas Legislature to enact this forward-thinking plan Governor Sebelius has laid out today."
