MANHATTAN
-- Officials from Kansas State University and Barton County
Community College recently signed three new 2 + 2 agreements which
will allow students to earn an associate degree from the community
college and transfer credits to K-State to complete a bachelor's
degree.
Eight
2 + 2 programs have now been signed between Barton County Community
College and K-State.
The
new 2 + 2 agreements were developed in the following fields: associate
degree in economics to bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary social
science; associate degree in sociology to interdisciplinary social
science; and associate degree in agricultural economics to general
business.
A
signing ceremony for the new agreements was December 2006, on the
community college's campus.
"Kansas
State University has had a long and fruitful relationship with Barton
County Community College," said Elizabeth Unger, vice provost
for academic services and technology and dean of continuing education.
"This is a further step forward to help the citizens of Kansas
get a higher education degree."
Representatives
from Barton County Community College present for the agreement signing
included Carl Heilman, president; Richard Abel, associate dean of
liberal arts and sciences; and Gillian Gabelmann, vice president
of instruction and student services.
K-State
attendees included Betty Stevens, associate dean of continuing education
and associate vice provost for informational technology partnerships.
