AT SALINA OFFERING WEEKLONG TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C.
SALINA
-- Kansas State University at Salina is offering a bus trip
to the nation's capitol May 25-June 2.
The
trip, which will be led by Dixie Schierlman, associate dean of student
life at K-State at Salina, includes visits to many of the city's
historic places. Participants will get to see President Bush give
his Memorial Day address at Arlington National Cemetery and see
the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns; attend a
Memorial Day concert on the steps of the Capitol; see the White
House, Ford Theatre, the Capitol Building and the Washington, Jefferson
and Roosevelt memorials, as well as the World War II Monument, the
U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Korean
Veterans War Memorial; tour the National Cathedral and the Smithsonian
Institution; and visit Mount Vernon or Monticello.
The
trip also will include a stop in Charlottesville, Va.
"I
hear time and time again from those who take this tour that they
gain a deeper appreciation for all that our forefathers have fought
for," said Schierlman, who has accompanied previous tours sponsored
by K-State at Salina.
The
trip costs $950 per person for double occupancy and includes all
accommodations, transportation, entry fees and some meals. The cost
can vary depending on the number of people per room. Participants
taking the trip for college credit will have a higher cost. Organizers
also suggest bringing an additional $225 for meals.
To
make reservations for the trip, contact Teri Van Wey at K-State
at Salina's Division of Continuing Education, 785-826-2633 or by
