DESIGNEXPO 2008, CAREER FAIR OF THE K-STATE COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN, FEB. 25 AND 29

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University students seeking careers in the design disciplines will get the chance to meet with prospective employers at DesignExpo 2008, the career fair of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design.

DesignExpo will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, and Friday, Feb. 29, in K-State Student Union's Ballroom. Event sponsors are the K-State College of Architecture, Planning and Design and K-State's career and employment services.

Employers attending DesignExpo are offering full-time employment as well as student academic internship opportunities. They also will be available to visit with students who wish to learn more about the disciplines of architecture, interior architecture and product design, landscape architecture, and regional and community planning, as well as related design fields.

This is the eighth annual DesignExpo. With 139 booths, this year's event is larger than last year's record high of 135. Employers attending are from firms across the country, including the Greater Kansas City area, Lawrence, Manhattan, Salina, Topeka and Wichita, as well as from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin. The DesignExpo 2008 planning committee includes the following K-State students:

Derek Clark, graduate student in landscape architecture, Burr Oak; Gemma Gough, fifth-year student in landscape architecture, Derby; George Andrew Hess, fifth-year student in architecture, Lenexa; Sally Ebright, third-year student in interior architecture and product design, Lyons.

From Manhattan: Joshua Perez, third-year student in architecture; Ethan Primm, fifth-year student in landscape architecture; and David Vogel, graduate student in landscape architecture.
Colleen Wittman, fifth-year student in interior architecture and product design, Olathe; and Karina Perez-Fajardo, third-year student in architecture, Topeka.

From out of state:

From Missouri -- Elise Young, third-year student in landscape architecture, Dexter; Samantha Lang, third-year student in interior architecture and product design, Manchester; Erica Lester, third-year student in interior architecture and product design, Raytown.

Christie Murman, third-year student in landscape architecture, Glenvil, Neb.; Steven Munroe, graduate student in regional and community planning, Newmarket, N.H.; Brit Karber, fifth-year student in interior architecture and product design, Fairview, Okla.; and Lindsay Whitehead, third-year student in architecture, Katy, Texas.

Faculty and staff on the planning committee include: Wendy Ornelas, associate professor of architecture and associate dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design; Vicky Borchers, associate professor, and Donna Fullmer, assistant professor, interior architecture and product design; Tony Barnes, professor, and Melanie Klein, assistant professor, landscape architecture and regional and community planning; Tom Hollinberger, assistant director, K-State career and employment services; Bruce Broce, director of development, College of Architecture, Planning and Design, Kansas State University Foundation; and Diane Potts, assistant to the dean, College of Architecture, Planning and Design.
