K-STATE PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS PRESENT AT MEETING OF SOCIETY FOR PERSONALITY AND SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY

MANHATTAN -- Students from the psychology department at Kansas State University recently gave presentations at the annual meeting of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. The meeting, Jan. 25-27, was in Memphis, Tenn.

Jericho Hockett, senior in psychology, Liberal, co-presented "Predictors of Attitudes Toward Race-Relevant Legislation."

From Manhattan: Amber Axelton, senior in psychology, co-presented "Beliefs About the Etiology of Homosexuality and Sexual Prejudice"; and Andrew Wefald, graduate student in psychology, co-presented "The Effects of Racism and Situational Factors on Perceptions of Discrimination."

Natalie Brown, graduate student in psychology, Oberlin, co-presented "The Effect of Muscular Media Images on Males' Body-Image: A Meta-analysis With Implications for the Biopsychosocial Model"; Amy Veenendaal, junior in psychology, Olathe, co-presented "The Effects of Ethnic Humor on Stereotype Knowledge and Belief, Prejudice, and Attitudes Toward Ethnic Humor."

From Overland Park: Sara Smith, graduate student in psychology, co-presented "Beliefs About the Etiology of Homosexuality and Sexual Prejudice" and "The Effects of Ethnic Humor on Stereotype Knowledge and Belief, Prejudice, and Attitudes Toward Ethnic Humor"; and Christopher Barlett, graduate student in psychology, co-presented "The Effect of Muscular Media Images on Males' Body-Image: A Meta-Analysis With Implications for the Biopsychosocial Model."

Christopher Vowels, graduate student in psychology, Riley, co-presented "The Effect of Muscular Media Images on Males' Body-Image: A Meta-Analysis With Implications for the Biopsychosocial Model"; and Kristin Noble, senior in psychology, Salina, co-presented "Predictors of Attitudes Toward Race-Relevant Legislation."

From out-of-state: Russell Webster, Shorewood, Ill., and Jessica McManus, Maineville, Ohio, both graduate students in psychology, co-presented "Predictors of Attitudes Toward Race-Relevant Legislation."
