MUSICAL
COLLECTIVE LEAHY TO PERFORM AT K-STATE
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University's McCain Performance Series will present
the multitalented musical collective Leahy at 7:30 p.m. Sunday,
March 4, in McCain Auditorium.
Composed
of eight siblings from Lakefield, Ontario, Leahy combines a blend
of Celtic, folk, country, classical and pop music with a whirlwind
of dancing to create an energetic celebration of Irish music and
dance.
After
performing across Canada as teenagers, Leahy reunited in 1997 and
won several JUNO Awards, Canada's awards for music, including Best
Instrumental Group and Best New Group in 1997 and Best Country Group
or Duo in 2001. Leahy has recently released "All Things,"
the group's third Virgin/EMI Records release.
Tickets
can be purchased at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain or by calling
the McCain box office at 785-532-6428 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
weekdays.
The
performance is sponsored by the Kansas Arts Commission, the National
Endowment for the Arts and the K-State fine arts fee. It also is
supported by the Friends of McCain.
