K-STATE
AT SALINA TO OFFER AVIATION AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT CLASSES AT
FORT RILEY
SALINA
-- Aviation and technology management classes at Kansas State
University at Salina will soon take off at Fort Riley.
Faculty
from K-State at Salina will begin offering classes in the aviation
maintenance, professional pilot and technology management curriculums
starting March 26. Enrollment begins immediately.
The
office of educational innovation and evaluation at K-State studied
the educational needs at Fort Riley last fall and found that more
than 70 percent of survey respondents wanted to earn a college degree.
Earlier this semester, faculty from K-State at Salina studied interest
on post and found a demand for the college's aviation and technology
management classes.
K-State responded accordingly.
"I
am extremely pleased to expand our service in providing quality,
relevant education programs to our military, especially our partners
at Fort Riley," said Jon Wefald, K-State president. "Our
aviation and technology programs, faculty and student services are
a natural fit for the needs of the new Combat Aviation Brigade of
the 1st Infantry Division. We are fully committed to doing whatever
is needed to help these special Americans meet their academic goals
while serving in uniform, and doing so in a manner that is most
convenient to the soldiers and their families."
K-State
at Salina faculty members Andrew Smith, Jimmy Splichal and Greg
Stephens will be teaching courses in the aviation maintenance, professional
pilot and technology management curriculums, respectively.
The
classes will be offered in evenings and will take place every eight
weeks. Enrollment for the classes is available now at http://www.salina.k-state.edu/army
or by contacting Larry Graham, K-State program assistant, at 785-784-5930
or ldgraham@k-state.edu.
