WORKSHOP
TEACHES K-STATE STUDENTS HOW TO HANDLE AN INTERVIEW CONDUCTED OVER
A MEAL WITH GRACE AND COURTESY
MANHATTAN
-- An interview for a job or internship can be nerve-racking enough.
Add a meal into the equation, and job-seekers looking to make a
good impression could get downright rattled.
Fortunately
for Kansas State University students, K-State's career and employment
services is sponsoring a dining etiquette workshop to help students
prepare for an interview that takes place during a meal.
The
workshop will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Gold Room
at Derby Dining Center. During the workshop, students will learn
etiquette tips and techniques as they dine. Pat Pesci, director
of K-State's hotel and restaurant management program, and Kevin
Roberts, instructor of hotel, restaurant institution management
and dietetics, will teach the workshop.
Students
will learn how to pass items around the table, how to make pleasant
conversation, as well as how and what to order -- including whether
it is appropriate to order an alcoholic drink. Pesci and Roberts
also will teach students how to recover from mishaps like a ringing
cell phone and dropped or spilled food.
Students
attending the workshop must dress in professional attire. The cost
is $6.75 per person, but students with a K-State meal plan may use
a meal exchange. Reservations are due Wednesday, March 7, by calling
785-532-6506 or dropping by career and employment services at 100
Holtz Hall.
