K-STATE'S
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE
TEAM PLAN ENTREPRENEURSHIPWEEK USA ACTIVITIES
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University's College of Business Administration,
in conjunction with K-State's Students in Free Enterprise Team,
will sponsor several events as part of "EntrepreneurshipWeek
USA," Feb. 24-March 3.
Two
public events will be Thursday, March 1, at K-State and are part
of a national campaign to educate participants about starting and
running technology-based firms. The events include the Entrepreneur's
Product Fair, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the K-State Student Union
courtyard. The fair will display products created by area entrepreneurs.
During
the fair, exhibitors will be on hand to discuss the process of securing
intellectual property, product development and new product marketing.
Fair participants include K-State's Advanced Manufacturing Institute,
the National Institute for Strategic Technology Acquisition and
Commercialization, NutriJoy, AgRenew, Nanoscale Corporation, Epic
Apparel and more. All of the participating companies are based in
Manhattan with the exception of Epic Apparel, which is based out
of Wichita.
A
panel discussion with industry experts from all areas of the technology
commercialization process will be 1-2 p.m. in the Union's Little
Theatre. A question-and-answer session will be part of the event.
Duane Nellis, K-State provost, will provide the opening remarks.
"As
dean of the College of Business Administration, I am pleased to
support EntrepreneurshipWeek USA at K-State," said Yar Ebadi.
"This is an excellent initiative to encourage young people
to engage in innovative thinking. Further, it will allow us to celebrate
the creativity and resourcefulness of our students while assisting
them in learning the skills essential to make their dreams a reality.
I look forward to seeing how our students will be inspired by this
initiative to change their lives and influence the global business
community."
With
the theme, "What's Your Big Idea? Take it On!," the "EntrepreneurshipWeek
USA" initiative is designed to serve as an inspiration for
young people to think creatively and to turn their ideas into action,
such as starting a new business, developing an innovation for an
existing company, or solving a problem that makes society better.
Official events are being planned in cities across the country,
including in Washington D.C., where the focus will be on the importance
of policy to the nation's entrepreneurs. More information on K-State
"EntrepreneurshipWeek USA" participants and events is
