K-STATE COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN OFFERING TWO DAYS OF DESIGNEXPO

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University students seeking careers in the design disciplines will get the chance to meet with prospective employers at DesignExpo, the career fair of K-State's College of Architecture, Planning and Design.

DesignExpo will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 2. Both sessions will be in the ballroom of the K-State Student Union.

Event sponsors are the College of Architecture, Planning and Design and K-State's career and employment services.

Employers attending DesignExpo are offering full-time employment, as well as summer and other internship opportunities. Employers also will be available to visit with students who wish to learn more about the disciplines of architecture, interior architecture and product design, landscape architecture, and regional and community planning, as well as other related design fields.

This is the seventh year for DesignExpo. With 135 participating firms, this year's event represents a 19 percent increase in the number of firms from last year's record high of 113 firms.

K-State students serving on the DesignExpo planning committee include:

Monica Miller, fifth-year student in landscape architecture, Burdett; Tim Sherman, third-year student interior architecture and product design, and Adam Wagoner, third-year student in architecture, both of McPherson; Karina Perez-Fajardo, third-year student in architecture, Topeka; and Daniel Gensch, third-year student in architecture, Wichita.

From out-of-state:

From Missouri: Ashleigh Rogers, fifth-year student in interior architecture and product design, Greenfield; Kelly Moore, fifth-year student in architecture, Independence; Laura Indihar, fifth-year student in architecture, Kirkwood; Michelle Keeven, fifth-year student in interior architecture and product design, O'Fallon; Mark Ruzicka, fifth-year student in landscape architecture, Springfield; Tony Fox, third-year student in landscape architecture, St. Charles; Elizabeth Cordes, third-year student in interior architecture and product design, Sunset Hills; and Katie Harms, fifth-year student in architecture, Weatherby.

From Nebraska: Amy Shaffer, third-year student in landscape architecture, Lincoln.

Faculty and staff on the planning committee include: Tony Barnes, professor of landscape architecture and regional and community planning; Mike Blaske, instructor of interior architecture and product design; Bruce Broce, director of development, College of Architecture, Planning and Design, Kansas State University Foundation; Tom Hollinberger, assistant director, K-State career and employment services; Wendy Ornelas, associate professor of architecture and associate dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design; and Diane Potts, assistant to the dean, College of Architecture, Planning and Design.
