K-STATE HAVING CAREER FAIR FOR STUDENTS LOOKING FOR INTERNSHIPS, JOBS IN JOURNALISM, MASS COMMUNICATION FIELDS

MANHATTAN -- As students get ready for spring break, they also may start thinking about summer internships -- and Kansas State University's A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications is helping make the search easier.

The school's third annual internship and career fair will be 1-4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the courtyard at the K-State Student Union.

Employers scheduled to attend include newspapers, broadcast stations, public relations and advertising firms, and nonprofit organizations. Journalism and mass communications students are invited to take their resumes and samples of their work to share with potential employers.

Gloria Freeland, assistant professor of journalism and mass communications, said students should dress appropriately in order to make a good first impression.

"Students should do as many internships as they can during their years at the university," said Freeland, who also is the school's internship coordinator. "Internships allow students to make great connections and to get great hands-on experiences. They're also a good way for employers to learn about K-State students."

For more information about the career fair, contact Freeland at gfreela@k-state.edu or 785-532-0721.
