OPERA THEATER PRESENTS MOZART CLASSIC 'COSI FAN TUTTE'
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University Opera Theater will present the Mozart
classic "Cosi Fan Tutte" at 8 p.m. March 1-3 in McCain
Auditorium.
In
this comedic tale, a graying bachelor, Don Alfonzo, makes a wager
with two young officers regarding the trustworthiness of women.
Alfonzo sets out to prove that all women, including the officers'
sweethearts, are susceptible to waywardness. Through a series of
hilarious attempts, Alfonzo does his best to expose signs of infidelity
in the officers' chaste and devoted ladies -- causing quite
a stir in the process.
"Cosi
is very funny," said Marci Maullar, associate professor of
speech communication, theater and dance at K-State. "I would
encourage those who have little or no background in opera to attend.
It's a great introduction to the opera and to Mozart."
The
opera is produced by K-State Theater and the department of music
and will be directed by Reginald Pittman, associate professor of
music at K-State.
Tickets
are $8 for K-State students, $11 for military and $13 for the general
public. To order tickets, call or visit the McCain box office from
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 785-532-6428 or online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain/
