ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING STUDENT RECEIVES GRANT
MANHATTAN
-- Jeremy Dreiling, a fifth-year senior in architectural engineering
at Kansas State University, has been awarded an American Society
of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Graduate
Student Grant-in-Aid for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Dreiling,
Hays, will receive $8,000 as a full-time graduate student
at K-State for studying technologies related to the society. His
research will be related to air quality in health care systems,
and he'll specifically analyze air cleaning methods. Grants are
given based on the relevance of the research proposed by the student
and the participation of the student and his or her adviser in the
society.
Recipients
of the grant are to use the money to help prepare for service in
the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration industry.
Typically 10 to 25 grants are given out each year. The money is
normally used for tuition and living expenses, as well as experimental
equipment, supplies and travel to American Society of Heating, Refrigerating
and Air-Conditioning Engineers meetings.
"Jeremy
has been an outstanding student through his time here at K-State,"
said Julia Keen, Dreiling's adviser and assistant professor of architectural
engineering. "He has always been one of our top scholarship
students, and he really enjoys the scholarship application process.
He also has taken great roles of leadership on campus and is very
involved in community service as well."
Dreiling
is working on a dual degree in architectural engineering, as he
is able to work on both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science
degrees at the same time in the department.
He
is the son of Joel and Melinda Dreiling and graduated from Hays
High School in 2002.
The
American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning
Engineers is an international organization that promotes advancements
in the arts of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration
for the benefit of the public. It has more than 50,000 members in
its chapters throughout the world.
