ADVANCED MANUFACTURING INSTITUTE INTERNS AND ASSOCIATE ENGINEER
RECEIVE CERTIFICATION
MANHATTAN
-- Two student interns and an associate engineer at Kansas State
University's Advanced Manufacturing Institute are now Certified
SolidWorks Professionals.
Earning
the designation at the recent SolidWorks World Conference in New
Orleans, La., were K-State students Josh Updyke, senior in mechanical
engineering, Manhattan, and Rein Herrman, senior in mechanical engineering,
Russell, both interns at the Advanced Manufacturing Institute, as
well as Stephen Corkill, an associate engineer at the institute.
SolidWorks
is a 3-D computer-aided design program. There are approximately
4,000 Certified SolidWorks Professionals worldwide, with eight individuals
in Kansas. Only the most qualified and advanced professionals receive
the certification. They are at the forefront of SolidWorks Technologies
and illustrate a competency that establishes industry standards.
"This
certification proves that the interns working at the Advanced Manufacturing
Institute are highly skilled and are recognized as professionals,"
said Brad Kramer, institute director. "This also establishes
us as a strong SolidWorks resource for our clients."
The
Advanced Manufacturing Institute is a part of K-State's College
of Engineering and a Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation Center
of Excellence that helps clients develop products and processes
and supports technology development in Kansas. The institute's internship
program is focused on supplying engineering students hands-on training
and a connection to potential career opportunities, in addition
to providing employers a resource of experienced candidates. More
information on the institute is available on the Web at http://www.amisuccess.com
