Monday, Dec. 13, 2013

MANHATTAN --
Several Kansas State University students are two-stepping their way across the region as members of the Swinging Spurs, the dance performance team of the university's Country Two-Step and Swing Dance Club.

The Swinging Spurs perform country two-step, swing dance and more at local, state and national events.

"Being a part of the Swinging Spurs has given me the opportunity to expand my passion for country dancing while building skills in the area of leadership and teamwork," said Thomas Weeks, junior in communication studies, Thayer, Mo., and captain of the team.

The group has had five performances this year, including performances at the College of Agriculture's fall Barn Party and at the Lazy T Ranch's Fall Festival.

"This dance troupe is a group of extremely talented and dedicated individuals, all of whom are a pleasure to work with," said Donita Whitney-Bammerlin, instructor of management and faculty sponsor and director of the Swinging Spurs.

More information about the Swinging Spurs is available at http://www.ksucountryswing.com.

Along with Weeks, members of the Swinging Spurs include:
