Students in the spotlight: K-State students participate in fall commencement with talents, speeches

MANHATTAN -- Several students will speak, sing or play musical instruments for their classmates, families and administrators as part of Kansas State University's commencement ceremonies Friday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 8.

The students include:

* Drew Hansen, senior in applied music, Berryton, will sing the national anthem and the university's alma mater for the College of Human Ecology.

* Nicole Woods, bachelor's degree candidate in agricultural communications and journalism, Bonner Springs, will sing the national anthem for the College of Agriculture.

* Stephen Kucera, sophomore in accounting, Kansas City, Kan., will play the organ for the College of Education and College of Business Administration.

* Nicholas Leckey, bachelor's degree candidate in hotel and restaurant management, Lake Quivira, will give the student address for the College of Human Ecology.

* Paul Meissbach, sophomore in music education, Lawrence, will sing the national anthem as part of a quartet for the College of Business Administration.

* Mark L. Prieb, bachelor's degree candidate in industrial engineering, Lehigh, will give the student address for the College of Engineering.

* Aaron Burke, bachelor's degree candidate in music education, Lenexa, will sing the national anthem for the College of Arts and Sciences.

* Kody Lynn, senior in marketing, Lindsborg, will sing the national anthem as part of a quartet for the College of Business Administration.

* Blake Mosier, freshman in pre-professional elementary education, Manhattan, will sing the national anthem as part of a quartet for the College of Business Administration.

* Garrett Lister, bachelor's degree candidate in agricultural economics, Marysville, will give the student address for the College of Agriculture.

* Austin Russell, senior in music education, McPherson, will perform the national anthem and the university's alma mater as part of a brass quintet for the College of Engineering.

* Trask Engel, junior in accounting, Salina, will sing the national anthem as part of a quartet for the College of Business Administration.

* Kirsten Hyde, senior in music education, Shawnee, will sing the national anthem for the College of Education.

* Christina Devaney, bachelor's degree candidate in secondary education, Wichita, will give the student address for the College of Education.

* Tyler Lewis, sophomore in aviation maintenance and Student Governing Association president, Aurora, Colo., will give the student address and be the student marshal for K-State Salina.

* Tammy Sonnentag, doctoral student in psychology and president of the Graduate Student Council, Edgar, Wis., will deliver the Graduate Student Council greeting for the Graduate School.

* Adam Ladd, graduate student in music, Huron, Ohio, will perform the national anthem and the university's alma mater as part of a brass quintet for the College of Engineering.

* Robin Kleine, bachelor's degree candidate in agricultural communications and journalism, Lowell, Ind., will speak at the College of Agriculture ceremony.

* Vincent Carlisle, doctoral student in adult, occupational and continuing education, Parkville, Mo., will be the reader at the Graduate School ceremony.

* James Johnson, master's student in music, Pittsburgh, Pa., will perform the national anthem and the university's alma mater as part of a brass quintet for the College of Engineering.

* Randall Frye, master’s student in music, Polk, Pa., will perform the national anthem, processional and recessional for the Graduate School.

* Patrick Sullivan, master's student in music, St. Charles, Mo., will perform the national anthem and the university's alma mater as part of a brass quintet for the College of Engineering.
