NEWS TIP: K-STATE PROFESSOR WHO IS FINANCIAL PLANNER AND PROBLEM GAMBLING COUNSELOR AVAILABLE TO WEIGH IN ON EXPANDED GAMBLING IN KANSAS

MANHATTAN -- Esther Maddux is a Kansas State University professor of personal financial planning. In addition to being a certified financial planner, Maddux is an addiction and prevention services certified counselor and certified problem gambling counselor. In August, she joined colleagues to prepare the community for expanded gambling in Dodge City, where the Boot Hill Casino is slated to open in December.

Maddux's expertise is in the intersection of personal behaviors and personal financial planning. Her work involves helping people see how their behavior affects the way they handle money while motivating them to change those behaviors to successfully manage their finances. She is working on a book on the topic.
