MANHATTAN -- William S. Lopez, Fort Worth, Texas, is the Kansas State University College of Business Administration's Fall 2008 Outstanding Senior in Business.
The award is presented each semester to a graduating senior who has made outstanding contributions to the College of Business Administration. Lopez, who earned a bachelor's in finance, was honored at the college's commencement ceremony Dec. 13.
Lopez has held a number of key leadership roles while at K-State. He has served as vice chair of academic affairs for the K-State Student Governing Association, and was a student senator and secretary of K-State's Student Senate. He also was a member of the dean's student advisory council of the College of Business Administration, and served as president and treasurer of the college's student council.
Lopez has been active with new student recruitment at K-State, serving as an orientation and enrollment leader and as a Kauffman youth leader.
"Will is one of the most responsible, conscientious and dedicated young men I have had the pleasure of knowing," said Yar M. Ebadi, dean of the College of Business Administration. "His service has been outstanding and has helped enhance the academic experiences for all students. I am pleased to see his contributions to the university and the college recognized with his selection for this award. I am confident that Will's excellent leadership skills and dedication to serve others will bring him great success in his professional career."
Lopez plans to return to Texas to pursue a postgraduate degree in either public administration or student services.
Lopez is the son of Jaime Lopez and Beth Bond, both of Fort Worth, and a 2004 graduate of Arlington Heights High School.
