K-STATE ROTC CADETS EARN HONORS FOR ACADEMIC, MILITARY EXCELLENCE
MANHATTAN -- More than 50 students in Kansas State University's Air Force and Army ROTC programs have been recognized for outstanding academics and military performance. The students were honored at the Air Force and Army ROTCs' Joint Awards Ceremony, Dec. 2, at K-State.
The awards presented included:
* The American Legion Military Excellence Award, for general military excellence; in addition, Army cadets also receive this award for the highest military fitness score.
* The American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award, which recognizes demonstrated scholastic achievement for earning the highest grade point average in each respective year group.
* The Daughters of the American Revolution Award, which recognizes an outstanding junior or senior cadet at each ROTC unit who ranks in the upper 25 percent of both their class and the institution's graduating class, and who demonstrates dependability and good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability, and understanding of the importance of ROTC training. Additionally, in Army ROTC, this award recognizes the best female cadet in color guard.
* The American Veterans Award, which recognizes a cadet who demonstrates diligence in the discharge of duties and willingness to their country.
* The Military Officers Association of America Award, which recognizes an outstanding junior cadet at each unit who shows exceptional potential for military leadership.
* The Cadet Achievement Ribbon, which recognizes outstanding performance by Army ROTC cadets during the fall 2008 semester.
