SEVEN K-STATE STUDENTS NEW MEMBERS OF SIGMA TAU DELTA INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society, has seven new members.
The new initiates were inducted Nov. 30. The honorary recognizes high academic achievement in English studies by undergraduate and graduate students and professionals; promotes interest in literature and the English language; and fosters and encourages the English studies discipline in all aspects, including creative and critical writing.
To join the honor society, students must be of at least sophomore standing; completed nine hours of English courses and achieved at least a 3.2 grade point average in the courses; and have a 3.0 grade point average overall and rank in the top 35 percent of their class.
The honorary, founded in 1924, has more than 525 chapters throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Caribbean.
New Sigma Tau Delta members at K-State, all English majors, include:
Ann Draemel, senior, Beloit; Jason Manes, senior, Kanopolis.
From Manhattan: Ellen Gould, junior; Kristine Kimmi, junior; and Allison Stuart, sophomore.
