SHELTER AT K-STATE STUDENT UNION WILL BE OPEN THURSDAY, FRIDAY NIGHTS
MANHATTAN -- The shelter in the Kansas State University Student Union ballroom will be available tonight and Friday night to K-State students, faculty and staff, as well as their family members.
According to Jack Connaughton, associate director of the Union, around 25 people used the shelter Wednesday night. Connaughton said because of the demand, the Union plans to keep the shelter open tonight and Friday night to serve those still involved with finals.
People using the shelter must supply their own bedding and any other personal items they may need. To access the shelter after 10 p.m., individuals must use the Union's north entrance. Those using the shelter also must provide their names for a roster.
Showers are available at K-State's Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex starting at 5:45 each morning. Individuals must bring their own towels and soap.
Evening food services in the Union include vending machines and Subway, in the Union recreation center, which is open until 9:30 p.m. The recreation center is open until 11 p.m. Also available are the Union computer lab and a big screen television.
