K-STATE'S BEACH MUSEUM OF ART TO OFFER LADIES NIGHT DEC. 1
MANHATTAN -- The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University has planned a ladies night from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.
The evening will include a tour of "Paths to the Press: Printmaking and American Women Artists, 1910-1960" led by associate curator Liz Seaton. It is the first major exhibition of women's contributions to American printmaking during the first half of the 20th century. It presents and interprets the printmaking of more than 80 artists.
"This is a chance for women to celebrate women artists," said Kathrine Schlageck, senior educator at the Beach Museum. "It's also a great opportunity to be creative together."
In addition to the tour, participants will create holiday cards, enjoy refreshments and receive a gift bag. To make the cards, guests will use white-line block printing, a method used by women printmakers in Provincetown, Mass., around 1915.
Admission is $10 per person and reservations are required. For more information or to reserve a spot, contact Schlageck at the Beach Museum, 785-532-7718, or drop by the museum on the southeast corner of the K-State campus at 14th Street and Anderson Avenue. Free visitor parking is available next to the building.
Normal museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays.
