K-STATE STUDENT FROM LEAWOOD IS COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION'S FALL 2007 OUTSTANDING SENIOR IN BUSINESS
MANHATTAN -- Leisha Harrison, a December 2007 bachelor's candidate in marketing with a minor in French, Leawood, is the Kansas State University College of Business Administration's Fall 2007 Outstanding Senior in Business.
Harrison will be recognized at the college's commencement at noon Saturday, Dec. 8, in Bramlage Coliseum.
The Outstanding Senior in Business award is presented each semester to a graduating senior who has made outstanding contributions to the College of Business Administration. A student committee comprised of representatives from the Dean's Student Advisory Council selects the award recipient.
As an undergraduate, Harrison has held numerous leadership positions including the vice president of the Marketing Club, secretary of the French honor society, Pi Delta Phi, and new member secretary of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. She is also an active member of the Entrepreneurship Club, Study Abroad Advocates and an alumna of Chi Omega sorority.
Harrison was the winner of the 2006 Northwestern Mutual Sales Competition. An annual sales competition coordinated with professional selling classes in the marketing department, Harrison received a first-place win and a $1,200 scholarship from a field of more than 120 participants.
During her collegiate career, Harrison spent a semester at the American Business School and the Sorbonne in Paris. In addition, she participated in a spring break study abroad experience with her international marketing class. On this trip, she studied the marketing industry in England, Belgium and Germany. As a Study Abroad Advocate, she shares her international experiences and encourages other K-State business students to study abroad.
"Leisha has been an excellent student and role model for her peers while at K-State. I am delighted that her contributions to the college have been acknowledged through her selection for this prestigious award," said Yar M. Ebadi, dean of the College of Business Administration. "I am confident her activities and accomplishments as an undergraduate are only small samples of the successes she will enjoy throughout her life."
Following her graduation from K-State, Harrison will join Siemens Business Technologies Division in Minneapolis, Minn., as a sales associate. She is the daughter of Roy Harrison, Leawood, and Brenda Harrison, Overland Park. Harrison is a 2003 graduate of Blue Valley West High School.
