TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR WILL FERRELL SHOW AT K-STATE

MANHATTAN -- Finals week, technical issues and the major ice storm can't stop Will Ferrell fans, as tickets for Will Ferrell's "Funny or Die Comedy Tour Presented by Semi-Pro" Feb. 4, 2008, at Kansas State University's Bramlage Coliseum have been selling well since going on sale Dec. 10.

"We have been pleased with the ticket sales the first few days, and there are plenty of good seats still available," said Courtney Hauser, entertainment co-chair of K-State's Union Program Council.

About 1,000 tickets remained as of Friday, she said. Sponsored by FunnyorDie.com, the show pairs Ferrell with three rising stars of stand-up comedy, Zach Galifianakis, Demetri Martin and Nick Swardson.

K-State student tickets are $40, $35 and $30 and non-student tickets are $55, $50 and $45. Student ticket holders must present a valid K-State student ID to enter. For tickets or questions, call 785-532-7606 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets also can be ordered online at http://www.k-statesports.com or by stopping by the Bramlage ticket office.

"It's really exciting to hear people talking about Will literally everywhere I go. I've heard a lot of positive things, even from people who had to stand in line -- and that's really promising," said Amanda Stanford, entertainment co-chair of the Union Program Council. "This is going to be pretty huge, and it's good to know that the student body is behind us."

The tour, in support of the Feb. 29, 2008, theatrical release of Ferrell's new comedy, "Semi-Pro," kicks off at 8 p.m. Feb. 4 in Bramlage. Other dates and venues for the seven-college tour include: Breslin Events Center, Michigan State University, Feb. 5; Schottenstein Center, Ohio State University, Feb. 6; Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State University, Feb. 11; Ryan Center, University of Rhode Island, Feb. 12; Conte Forum, Boston College, Feb. 13; and Dean Smith Center, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Feb. 22.

Ben Hopper, program adviser for the Union Program Council, said that this is a huge opportunity for K-State.

"This is a chance of a lifetime to see these four comedians on one stage. We are in pretty elite company with the other schools and excited that we can provide this type of entertainment to the K-State community," Hopper said.

The Union Program Council programs around 180 events each year for K-State and the Manhattan community, from weekly films, cultural events, art gallery exhibits, speakers and debates, to K-State After Hours, a substance-free alternative to a Friday night.

This is the biggest event that the Union Program Council has organized in a few years, Hopper said.

"It has been a semester-long undertaking since we submitted the proposal on Sept. 14. It has been an exhausting, but wonderful experience," he said. "I'm so proud of our students for pursuing this and making it happen. We are grateful for everyone that has helped out, especially for the cooperation from the K-State basketball programs to shift practice schedules around to allow the tour to come to Bramlage."

Jim Muller, associate director of operations for K-State athletics, acknowledged there have been some technical issues with online sales, mainly due to the ice storm. Those who attempted to order online and were unable to complete their transaction or confirm their purchase are encouraged to call 785-532-6910 with questions regarding their order between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
