TWO
K-STATE STUDENTS RECEIVE SPONSORSHIP TO FUTURE AGRICULTURE LEADERS
CONFERENCE
MANHATTAN
-- Two Kansas State University students received sponsorships
to a conference by a professional development organization for top
students pursuing careers in the agricultural industry.
Heidi
Eickman, senior in agronomy, Belleville, and Stacy Mayo,
senior in agricultural communications and journalism, Manhattan,
were among the 16 college students selected by the Agriculture Future
of America organization to attend its Leaders Conference, Nov 2-6,
in Kansas City, Mo.
The
sponsorships were made possible by a $30,000 grant from the CHS
Foundation to Agriculture Future of America. The CHS Foundation
is the major giving entity of CHS Inc., a leading energy and grain-based
foods company.
Agriculture
Future of America provides personal and professional training and
opportunities for young people seeking careers in agriculture. The
organization's annual four-day Leaders Conference draws more than
300 of the nation's top collegiate agricultural students and includes
participation and leadership from nationally prominent leaders in
the agriculture industry.
Sponsorships
selections were based on students' previous connections to CHS Inc.,
Agriliance and member cooperatives; their interest in attending
the conference; and their views on the value of cooperative-based
business in agriculture.
Eickman,
a 2002 graduate of Belleville High School, has been an intern for
Agriliance/CROPLAN GENETICS. Mayo, a 2003 graduate of Garden City
High School, has been a marketing communications intern for CHS.
