K-STATE STUDENT TO SERVE AS VICE CHAIR OF AMERICAN DIETETIC ASSOCIATION STUDENT COMMITTEE

MANHATTAN -- Laura Romig, a Kansas State University senior in dietetics, Leavenworth, has been selected to serve as vice chair of the American Dietetic Association's student committee.

Romig's term on the eight-member 2009-2010 Student Council Advisory Committee begins in June. She will attend the American Dietetic Association Leadership Institute June 11-14 in Dallas, Texas; a face-to-face meeting of the Advisory Committee in Chicago in July; and the association's Food and Nutrition Conference and Exhibition in Denver in October.

The council represents the interests of all dietetic students and interns. More than 20,000 students are enrolled in didactic programs, coordinated programs, dietetic internships and dietetic technician programs.

Romig is president of K-State's Student Dietetic Association. She is a member of K-State's chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu, an honor society for human ecology students, and Phi Upsilon Omicron, an honor society in family and consumer sciences. She has been active with Lafene Health Center's Sensible Nutrition and body image Choice, or SNAC, group, and was a member of Silver Key, K-State's sophomore honorary, and Quest, K-State's freshman honorary.
