K-STATE THEATER PRESENTS FINAL PRODUCTION OF THE YEAR WITH 'ROMEO AND JULIET'

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's theater program will present Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" at 7:30 p.m. April 24-26 and April 30-May 1 in Nichols Theatre.

Often referred to as the "greatest love story ever told," "Romeo and Juliet" is the story of two young lovers who struggle to unite their warring families and end a generations-long violent feud.

Tickets are $8 for students and children, $11 for military and $13 for the general public. Tickets are on sale at the McCain Auditorium box office from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and at the K-State Student Union's Little Theater box office from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets also may be ordered by phone at 785-532-6428 during McCain box office hours, or online at http://www.k-state.edu/theatre

Guest artist and K-State alum Benaiah Anderson served as the fight choreographer for the production. He spent several weeks teaching the cast hand-to-hand combat and swordplay.

The play is under the direction of Michael Gros, assistant professor of theater; costume design is by Dana Pinkston, associate professor of theater; set design by Kathy Voecks, assistant professor of theater; and lighting design by John Uthoff, associate professor of theater. Dwight Tolar, instructor in theater, will be participating in the production as a member of the cast and playing the role of Friar Laurence.

The production is co-sponsored by 4 Olives Restaurant and Wine Bar.
