STUDENT WORK ON DISPLAY AT K-STATE'S COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN
MANHATTAN -- The 14th annual Student Rendering Competition is on display at Kansas State University's College of Architecture, Planning and Design through April 27.
The juried competition was open to all students in the college, including students affiliated with program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The exhibit, in the Chang Gallery of Seaton Hall, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Competition organizer Fayez Husseini, professor of interior architecture and product design, said the contest was designed to promote interaction and constructive competition among students regardless of major or level. He also hoped that in giving hidden talent intellectual, emotional and monetary recognition, the competition would encourage students to market their work.
The competition jury consisted of Gene Ernst, professor emeritus of the college; Chris Ford, a professor in the College of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; John Gaunt, dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Kansas; Mikko Heikkinen, who holds the 2006-2007 Regnier Distinguished Chair of Architecture at K-State; and Melody Ellis Mirakian, an associate with Rafael Architecture in Kansas City, Mo.
